Looking to purchase a new gear pump cream machine, where is the best place to buy from ? not only price but customer service and future business. Kind of leaning to a cdl machine, but open for any suggestions.

same here! and what is the best one out there. Lapierre, CDL, Leader? Leader seems to be more versitle but not as efficient in making just maple cream. I would be interested in hearing how those who ahve the SDL models like it. the Lapierre is by for the most expensive.

If you are looking for a gear pump style machine there are only two options. LaPierre and CDL.

If I was in the market I would seriously consider this if my wallet would allow it. Can make both candy and cream.

I have the smaller Lapierre. like it a lot. only thing I don't like is the valve is not a stainless valve.

I will defiantly look at both. Not ruling out leaders turntable machine but really like the idea of dispensing directly off of the machine. I have to think about the amt of cream I would make though as I am a very small operation making a total of 40'galloms of syrup a year. I know that the lightest syrup makes the best cream so I will most likely bulk in 5gallon jugs all of my light syrup. I would guess I would only be using 5 gallons of syrup total for all my cream. No idea how much that would make in lbs...

If you are going to invest in a machine to make only 25-30 lbs. of cream per year you are better off making it by hand or, invest in a candy machine with which you can make candy and cream. Or, with a Leader paddle style machine you can make cream and sugar though it is a pain to scoop cream into jars.

I make close to 500 lbs. of cream/year with a candy machine. Will be switching to a gear pump machine within the next year or two however.

I suggest getting a copy of the Cornell confection book. You can actually download the whole thing for free. Lots of good info.

I use a candy machine to make cream with good results. Very easy to fill jars, it takes some time even doing a gallon of syrup. As smooth as anything, just not fast.
