I have one. It does need to be re-tinned. All castings are good one door is cracked. Stack is good.
Does come with pans. 1984 leader drop flue in absolutely excellent shape.
Message me for details.

I have some old leader air tight doors and front end I could let go for cheap if you find the arch.

Keep looking, the larger sizes are often easier to find and cheaper since so many are moving to smaller evaporators as a result of running an RO. You might need to buy a whole rig and then sell the pans if you don't want to keep 2 sets.

Check with Ray at Deer run maple. There may have been one at his auction last Sat. It was 5 or 6 feet wide, needed retined and some structural work.

At ray's auction the big one I am thinking about was a 6x16 I think and it went for $500 I think I wasn't really paying attention it was a leader. We were kicking ourselves for not buying it for scrap

If your happy and the seller is happy then it was a fair price. New equipment is up there!
Some pictures when you get a chance?

It depends on what you concider cheap but I see larger older wood evaps everywhere for pretty cheap, pretty much what I paid for my 2x6 ($3100 6 years ago used) or even cheaper around $2000 to $5000. Folks can't get rid of the things because what maple flats said. folks are switching out the giant evaps going to and RO and a 3 x 10 or 4 x 12 with steam away package etc. Especially with grants availiable they will pay a pretty good chunk of the bill. cutting the costs way down and using a 1/4 or less of what type of fuel you are using to produce the same amount of syrup. I personally love the fact I can use my 2x6 on 600 taps and use 2.5 cords of wood for the season. this last year was weird I think I paid a lot more to heat my RO room than I did actually using the machine. Sorry got off topic there. anyway they are around.
