I just wanted to let everyone know that I talked with clayton at MES- maple expert solutions today and he has the best membrane prices. I shopped my membranes around and they definitely have the lowest prices on 4 inch 8 inch and 16 inch prices. I bought 3- 4 inch membranes for my cousins little operation, 6- 8 inch membranes for mine, and also I have a 16 inch membrane and I am going to replace that one. Expensive day for me but I like to know I have what I need when I need it. Take a peek at their website.

I looked at MES and their price on a 8X40 is $800. unless Im missing something I don't see it any cheaper than that. That being said a 8X40 XLE 440 you could get 6 for $620 each

Its on the homepage of MES scroll down $630 for 8" membranes. But your $620 is cheaper you just didn't say where.

He gave me a price of $615 for the 6 and offered to deliver them if he was in the area. If that doesnt pan out they ship from VT so I get them the next day and it is less $$$. Im a happy customer.

I got my Miso from Smoky Lake. Don't exactly remember what I paid for it, tho....

I bought mine last year from MES. Has the same accuracy as the Misco and I paid $235 or 240 I cant remember which. I suspect it is made in china but the atago ones are made in japan so I figured why not. If I remember right I got a quote for over $400 on the Misco. Worst case one of the mES ones could break and I could still afford to buy another. I tested against the hydrometer and the old handheld digital one I have. For what I was doing it was right on the money

I see these, are they as good as the ones the maple suppliers sell:

http://www.amazon.com/Milwaukee-Refractometer-Automatic-Compensation-Resolution/dp/B007Z4IN58/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1410173645&sr=8-1&keywords=digital+refractometers

I am sure some on here use these.

Brandon - I have the Hanna - love it for cold sap (purchasing sap or concentrating to 12-15+%) but I do not trust it for hot syrup.

Thats the price he gave me and I couldn't resist the purchase. Apparently he sold out of membranes the first day at that price. The next batch is coming in december. I don't plan on using my RO until Feb so I was A-ok with that. I like that they put a pricelist on their website now with vacuum pumps and supplies and membranes- seems to be a new addition? I really hate calling up my dealer, waiting for a call back a week later, etc. That and never knowing when I am going to get the product from the dealer. They seem to promise me a lot of things they cannot deliver on. I like to know what the prices are going to be so I can budget my replacements and expansions. Clay is a decent dude in my book. Just $0.02 from a guy that has had 10,000 taps for 30+ years, back when that was a big sugarbush!

Thanks everyone for the positive reviews. I just started to source the PVD1 membrane. Lots of people were calling requesting them. They are now in the pricelist on the MES website. Yes silvermaple it is a new addition to the website.
