Guage of steel on sides

What guage of gal. steel on the sides of oil fired evap.?

Front and bottom are going to be made from old oil tank.

Why are'nt you just using the whole oil tank and nothing but the oil tank?

Most that are galv metal have 18 ga.

I agree. I'm assuming you are using a 275 gal oil tank. Just use it the way its set up normally. You can leave the pipe on the bottom for legs and cut about 2/3 to 3/4 way up and then build angle iron frame to weld to then set pans on top of that. You can even brick the inside.

I'm building a 3X3,

Would it work with the Tank?

Maybe, just the 6"addition at the top on both side would not make alot of difference.

In that case you will need to flare the sides out to get to 3 feet. I'd say if you are good at welding you can use the extra metal from shortening the length to make the sides wider. If I remember correctly the oil tank is around 30" wide and 60 long So if you are going to shorten the length you will have plenty of material to flare the sides out.

How high is the burner from the bottom and the bottom of the pan?

Could I just lay the tank on its side and build it that way, or is it to shallow, the tank is 24" wide by 48" high.

The burner nozzle is 4.5" from the top of the ceramic blanket
