Hey guys, I need some advice. Iam upgrading from boiling outside this up coming season and moving into my barn with a 2x4 evaporator. The roof is metal and I have windows and an overhead garage door. My question is do I need to cut the roof for a coupala or steam stack or can I get away with just opening windows and the door? It's a wood floor so I don't want it to "rain" inside. Any feed back would be awesome. Thanks!!

metal roof = rain unless you do stack through it.

If you don't cut a hole or put in a steam stack and hood you will have a nice sauna. Steam rises so horizontal venting won't work well at all.

Hoods and steam stacks will be the most effective method to remove 98% of the steam.

What they said. Either steam stack or cupola is needed. Stack is better choice. Be sure to protect the floor from sparks, barns burn fast.

Thanks guys! Iam going to do the hood and stack. As for the sparks iam going to pour a 1 inch concrete slab and use concrete boards behind the evaporator. Do you think I will need need a blower on the stack if it goes vertical? And will a blower be ok if I go out the wall? Much appreciated!

The 1 inch concrete? Is that on top of a wood floor?
You should not need a blower in the steam stack if the hood is close to or on the pan. Should get good draft.
Try ti go straight up with the stacks if possible.

Chris
