Soon I will be building my doors for my shack, and have several ideas floating around in my head on how to do it. I have one 36" door opening and a 48" opening. The 36" will be a single out-swinging door and the 48" will be two 24" out-swinging double doors. The exterior of the doors will be rough sawn hemlock. I know the doors will be heavy, and I will need as much diagonal support as possible to prevent sagging.
If anyone has pictures of their doors I would love to look at them to fine tune my ideas, or come up with something completely different.

I don't have any pics (except in my signature) but my doors are also heavy hemlock, one is 36" the other is a double door of 2 totaling 58". All I have is 1 diagonal from high on the hinge side to low on the other side. The diagonal is also hemlock, a 1x4 and there has been no sagging in 11 years. Just be sure you fasten then well. I just used 2.5" galv. nails and clinched the points over to lock them from loosening. Nothing fancy, but effective. I have 4 strap hinges on each door, they are about 6" on each section (sturdy).

I did find one picture of the double door end. http://i1041.photobucket.com/albums/b418/Daveandjoanssugarhouse/around%20the%20sugarhouse/P1010076.jpg (http://s1041.photobucket.com/user/Daveandjoanssugarhouse/media/around%20the%20sugarhouse/P1010076.jpg.html)

You could laminate a piece of 3/8 or 1/2 inch plywood into the door. Guaranteed never to sag.

That was one of my thoughts. There are a few ways I could go about it that way as well.

No sags in 3 years.
Do you mainly contribute that to those brackets on the inside?

Brackets I'm sure help some but 2x4 keeps everything together as well. Boards on doors are nailed onto 2x4 with 10 d maze nails. Door is hung with two strap hinges and lagged on both sides. Lags go into 2x4 on door and into 4x4 post on building.
