I'm thinking about changing from wood to oil. I have a friend who is a heating contractor and can help but he needs some info on the burner and nozzle. My evaporator is 30in by8ft. Any advice is appreciated.

I think mine is a carlin 201 burner with 2.0 gph nozzle..but to get the right nozzle u have to look at the stack temp..when I bought it the nozzle was 3.5 gph but the stack was to hot..mine is around 900F with good boil rate on both pans..to position the burner it has to point half way up the ramp according to d&g

For your size arch probably a 3-3.5 gph nozzle. Should be able to get recommendations from one of the evaporator companies. Be sure to ask about the spry pattern of the nozzle as well.
