I noticed many rolled up leaves on my hard maples. Inside is a pale greenish worm about 3/4 inch long with a black head. It makes a thread. It doesn't have any hair. I'm in Northwest WI. I couldn't find it on the internet. Thanks

It sounds like some kind of leaf roller, a caterpillar of certain moths. Many are fruit pests. I'm not sure how serious a threat they are to maples, if at all. Try a google image search of leaf rollers to see if you can ID it further and see what controls they recommend.

Got it! A leaf roller. Found it now on the Cornell site. Not too serious yet. But if you add up all on a big maple it would be hundreds but that's from thousands of leaves. Thanks for your response.
