View Full Version : Has anyone added a recirc pump to an older or home built RO?
Just wondering how any one has done this. Thinking about up grading my Memtek to an 8" membrane. Wondering what h2o or mes is using for pumps on the side of their vessel and how they are plumbed inside.

The memtek I just bought has an external recirc. pump that runs on a 3hp. motor. The pump has the Memtek name in the casting so I assume its something they designed. I was going to and still I might externally mount a procon pump that I bought on the sap bros. RO that I still have. That RO does'nt ever run above 250 psi so I can get away with it. I've looked into this quite a bit but not enough to speak with much authority. I spoke with a pro welder in my area and he said he'd have no problem welding additional fittings to the side of my stainless vessels if and when I needed them. I have'nt completely wrapped my mind around the whole thing yet but I'm convinced its possible and worth pursueing........I spoke with Clayton at MES a while back and he does consulting by the hour. Thats probably something I would do before I made any kind of a move. He sells RO components as well.

I believe the MES recirc pump is a grundfos deep well pump mounted in a stainless vessel and hooked to the main membrane vessel. Best to give them a call since I don't know any specifics.

Pretty sure I looked at that RO. That is where I figured out mine should be able to run more membrane with my Memtek. I am wondering if I could put a pump in one of my 4" vessels. Same high pressure pump just mine has a 5 hp and yours is 7.5 hp. Identical feed pump

Thats an interesting thought. I bought the RO from a guy up in St. Albans. I was going to build one but I could'nt have done it for what I paid for this one. Its older but its all I need for the forseeable future.

One red vessel, one blue vessel? Mahindra tractor next to sugarhouse?
