I was talking to one of the big producers up north and he said that they had a regular season up there. We were done by the middle of April, but they finish up in the first week of May. They tap usually on March 20th, so about a month after us down here in Central Maine.

We are a few miles East of presque isle and we ended up with an average season. Certainly wasn't a bumper crop but we are pleased with our production for as crazy as the weather was. We made somewhere in the 3(ish) pounds per tap. Nothing to brag about I know but average for us just the same. Our neighbor doesn't have a vacuum and he made 30 gals on 450 taps. :( not a good year for gravity.

We made over 6 pounds per tap with our first boil on April 4th and the last on May 11th. It was our first year so I have no basis but the others around seemed to be slightly off but we were all please especially where it was about a week late starting.
