Took a road trip on friday up into Quebec to the CDL open house. Noticed a display of a 10 in filter press that was self cleaning to reduce the need to change papers as often. The press had a series of valves on the under side of the press plumbed into the plates with a supply of hot water. As the liquid is pumped building pressure(up to 40) a valve is opened which causes the liquid to enter a bank and mix with the DE and niter trapped on the paper then this mixture drains back out the press. You then go to the next valve and repeat.
Has anyone had any experience with this type of setup or know anyone who has one? I would like to learn more about this press from a sugarmaker instead of a salesman, if you know what I mean.
