Are there any recommendations for keeping a Delaval 76 in good condition during the offseason, or can the pump just be turned off and left as is until the start of the next season?

As long as it is out of the weather it will be okay to just walk away from it.

We had to replace the bearings in our 76 last year due to a poorly operating moisture trap. It was recommended that we remove the end plate from the pump every season and wipe down the inside of the pump and the fins with soapy water.

Soapy water? What are you trying to remove with washing? I wouldn't think you would want to put moisture into the pump, do you follow that up with a coat of oil and then seal it back up?

We will rinse with a damp cloth, wipe dry and give it a thin coat of oil afterwards. The intent is to remove any sticky residue that may have gotten sucked into the pump as moisture in the air. We did this last year after we replaced the bearings and the pump ran like a dream all season.
