Like the title says, is it possible to throw some blueberries in the bottom of the mason jar before pouring the syrup in for perserving?
Just like to try something different.

IMHO, no. You can substitute maple syrup for sugar if canning (http://www.ext.nodak.edu/extnews/askext/canning/4537.htm) them (and then process in a water bath as for any acid fruit or veggie) but the other way around- a handful of berries in a lot of syrup - probably won't provide an acid enough pH to prevent spoilage and may decrease the density of the syrup so it, too, no longer acts as a preservative. I'd freeze or can the berries separately.
