gas to electric delaval conversion

Looking to convert 2 Honda powered delaval 76 pumps to electric.
With the cost of power in mind can these pumps be run with a 3phase motor and phase converter? Currently one has 300 taps but is going to be possibly 600 at some point. The second only a couple hundred. Any suggestions on motor size and pully size?
Also is it possible to run it thermostatically? On at a pre set temp and off at another?
Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Yes 3ph will run but there is some electric that is lost in a converter. The better way would be to use a VFD(variable frequency drive to turn the 110 or 220 to 3ph. These units are also available on ebay.

I would direct drive the 76 with a VFD for the most economical result over time. The VFD will slow the pump to meet a preset vac level and a 76 in good condition will easily handle 600 taps. The added benefit of the VFD is on startup the unit can spin at over 1000 rpm for a short time to pull down the sytem to the desired vac level.

Be certain that you are using a high quality vac oil in this unit as spinning at 1100-1200 rpm on substandard oil will cause damage to the unit. The time it will take to drop a wet/dry system for 600 taps to 25-28" will be in the 2-10 minute range depending on the amount of mains used in the system

This pump was very popular to use on a Zero tank of 500 gallons; which is nearly 67 CF of space to bring from free air to desired vacuum.
