View Full Version : My maple syrup production for the year.

So total I made about 8oz. I did lose most of my meager sap haul to spoilage while I got my vacuum evaporator working. However my evaporator worked quite well once I got it going.

So here it is my total haul. The low temp boil (below 100F) produced a pretty light syrup compared to what I did last year using the regular method. I did heat it up on the stove for about 5 mins to sterilize it, but besides that it's essentially never been heated that much. It was crystal clear when I bottled it, but it seems like it some how got a precipitate while it sat in the fridge over night.

Birch syrup here we come!

please explain how you did your vacuum evaporator?

That's a post for another thread. However half the people who come on here are already a good way to building one since they already have vacuum pumps for pulling sap, but it needs to be able to pull a good 27+ inches to get to a room temp boil. The rest is a couple hundred bucks and using your noodle.
