These caps never really "seal" do they? What I'm wondering is if they are reusable? Not because I am cheap, but because I'm trying to be environmentally conscious and would like to limit how much disposable stuff I use.

It would seem that this plastisol if cleaned would seal based on pressure from screwing the cap on?

They should seal (depressed central button), or at least have in my own experience. They seal not because of pressure but because of the vacuum created when hot syrup cools in a capped bottle. I have also reused them (for syrup only) though reuse is not recommended. Nevertheless I've reused them and so far haven't had any problems getting them to seal after a second and even third reuse. Like 2 piece canning lids, the lids need to be heated in very hot (not boiling) water to soften the plastisol for a good seal. Just follow the same routine as for preparing 2 piece canning lids.

I just want to say again that reuse is not recommended so proceed at your own risk.
