ive got about 4 gals of ropey syrup it doesn`t taste bad, but not something id like to eat a lot of or sell for human consumpition ( because I don`t know enough about it really) . I finished it knowing it was ropey, because I figured I could be used in animal feed or something, anyone have interesting ideas??

They sell it for bear bait around me. Usually goes for $100 a barrel.

Why is it called "ropey" ? How would you know if you have ropey syrup?

I've never seen it but according to what I've read, long strings or threads like rope develop in the syrup which may also become thick like jelly. It's due to the growth of a particular bacteria.

When it's "ropey" it looks like your boiling tapeworms.

I did about 3 gallons once before I knew what I was doing. Used it for coon and bear bait the last few years.
