Howdy all...Found me a diagram on here and set out to build a RO....Went over and over the diagram and I'm pretty certain I have it all connected properly.
Sap going in is a bit over 2% sugar and the concentrate coming out is pret near the same...I figure there must be something simple i'm missing.Any suggestions out there?
Thanks for your time

Are you getting any permeate coming out? If so, how much? Should be at least 50/50 permeate to concentrate. What kind of pressure are you getting across your membranes. Should be at least 100 psi when you close your needle valve down to a trickle. Any chance you could post a pic? Sounds like you must be missing something simple. I could probably tell from a pic.

Refer to your owners manual..........

Lesson learned for me. Went out to take a picture so I could post it and went over it one more time...Putting the valve on the proper end certainly helped matters.
Concentrate is running about 5% sap was a touch over 2...This sound about right?

If you're running the Aquatech 8800 series pump homemade RO, you can do a little better. A couple of things to consider that I've learned on here. Higher % raw sap going in is almost limited to just doubling on the concentrate side. I had several runs of 3.5+% and could not really get it over 7%. But lower %'s can get the 75% water removal. I think I averaged about 66% over the year. I found that about 125 PSI was the max that the system could run, started to foul roughly at the halfway point. And lastly, to change the pre-filter often. I actually went to replacing after each day.
Have fun, wish I was still boiling.
