I'm running a 40x60in Thor with drop flu pan and 20x20 syrup pan. Feeding it was 5% from a small deer run maple ro. My back pan looks really sweet and after reading post about the guy making syrup in flu pan got me thinking. Can my flu pan be too sweet. Should I start over once and a while and 're sweeten the pan? What would I do with all the sweets with out finishing on Turkey cooker? I've been running deeper each boil with the toxic sap and am now around 1.5in so I'm able to still draw off when my syrup pan is all crazy.I watch the temp of The sap entering the syrup pan and it's around 214 when I draw and 213ish other wise. I would like to run lower but with my syrup pan bubbling like it has been I can't draw off. Yes I use deformed by float. Only one float and sap changes pans via 1.5in pipe with no valve.
