foaming problem

this year I'm having a bad foaming problem I've made 50-60 gal all ready and went through a qt & 1/2 i can't seem to get it to stay down I'm using an r/o this yr for the first time . and I'm finding it has a lot of sugar sand and scum on the top from the defoamer . the syrup looks great after i put it through the filter press .i plug it up on 5-6 gal at a time its a 7" short bank . oh by the way i am using lapierre defoamer new this yr. is it safe to use this much or should i just not use it cause it doesn't seem to work anyways . any thoughts on this situation thanks

I don't know anything about defoamer because I've never used them, but I've notice the same thing this year...my first with the RO. One thing I found was I had too much syrup in the pan sometimes. I had syrup back in the pan away from the draw when it wasn't quite syrup at the draw, but was able to get the whole boil off as finished syrup.
