Off colored sap

We picked a load of sap from the bush today and it is brown in color. Been tapping this woods over 20 years , this is the first time I've seen anything like it . Any suggestions as to what be the cause of this coloring ?:cry:

Rain? I am starting to get the cloudy and green end of season sap. :(

I had the same thing today, no way for rain to have got in! I have no idea?

In the past I have seen it coming out of trees that I thought were good trees.It was brown in the drop line.I removed them and discolor went away.Don't know if that might help.Trees ended up breaking off cause of dead wood ring.Good luck.
