Running?

Highly confused here (2nd year).

My 2 Box Elder's are running well. But, nothing from my "real" Maples as of yet.
We have not had but an occasional day with the proper temp cycles. But, beginning today, it appears we have a string of about ten days looking perfect, per the forecast at least.

Do I just need patience, or is there anything I should be doing besides waiting?

Give it time, there are a lot of variables, side of the tree, amount of sun, crown size, wind, etc. Trees have personalities like people do. I have some trees that give us 5+ gallons of sap a day per tap and others 15 feet away giving us 1/2 gal or just oz's.

my sugars here are slowing and i thought my red maples were done. but yesterday, i had overflowing buckets from all my red maples. lower sugar content but sweet is sweet. give it time as mounder said.

We were planning on shutting down this weekend. Surprise ! Surprise! Picked up over 300 gallons of sap and still running.

This has been a really strange year. We've been wrecks about not getting anything and then today the stars aligned and we have gushers of sap from our 400taps. Ron is boiling like crazy. beautiful!
