This morning I collected sap from my 10 taps, close to 35 gallons. After my last attempt
at making syrup turned out be not a failure just thin syrup. After asking question here I was on the trail to get a hydrometer:)
I followed all the advice given ,boiled some water checked with 2 different thermometer's (for getting it close to syrup)then using
my new trusty hydrometer we now have real syrup. A big thanks to the people on this site. You all are a blessing in disguise for
the rookie sap cookers. My 55 gallon barrel project doesn't look like it will be done before the season end so as my son called it
thee hillbilly evaporator

and the end results using the hydrometer
