Nothing today really as it rained off and on all day and cloudy, and now more rain headed our way but up north Snow headed that way. Pipeline just dripping a little today nothing big and buckets zero. I know I am not alone in waiting and hoping and pacing and getting restless.:o

I got minimal today I'm on the nh mass border. My trees ran last night I had between 1/3 and full buckets this morning. Then today best bucket was 1/3 full. Your right on the pacing about. I have 3x as many taps this year and a much tighter route, but I've done the same driving or more for 1/4 of the sap.

I can see it now $70 for a gallon of syrup

Trees thawed out this afternoon around 3pm was coming in around 100 gallons every twelve minutes. Also looking at another 5-8 inches of snow Sunday. At least tomorrow looks good.

i got about 10 gallons of sap from 600 gravity taps. About what I expected.

El Zippo here too!

It started flowing OK around 4pm, here in Temple (South Central) and hasn't let up too much. Just under a gallon per tap since this morning. Drew off 3G and will probably need to boil tomorrow night. I must be in a warm pocket, plus some vac helps. Hope it stays cold so the trees don't get all jumpy...

Yes now we want the cold to stay.

Late this afternoon there was a drop every now and then coming into the releasers.

I didn't get much yesterday either. It was coming into the releaser about as good as I have seen it this season which isn't very good. I will boil tonight for the 6th time this season and the 5th time in March. The number of times in March would only be 4 if not for maple weekend. A new record here and not a good one.

Just checked my tanks, and it ran a little overnight but is only dripping now. Got down to 36 degrees overnight so no run today unless something strange happens which is highly unlikely this year. Forecast doesn't look too promising unless they are wrong again.

I've gotten about 1 gallon of sap accumulated from each tap for the whole season. Once it's all said and done I think I'll have about half a gallon of syrup for the whole year.

had over 2,000 gallons come in after 3pm yesterday, sap starting to come in this morning. Looks like it's going to be a good day.

Ittitz that's so odd cause I'm 15 miles from your east and I've made 15 gallons on 120+ taps. I'm boiling off 150 gallons today from yesterday

You should be happy about that....around here, even the guys on vacuum have not pulled that much per tap at this point!

Well I'm tapping reds on all gravity so it may be somewhat understandable. I've seen a lot of people on here not too far from me tapping all sugars on vacuum and they are getting a gallon a tap per day. Anyway the extended forecast show the season is pretty much done for southern NH. Yesterday evening was the last below freezing night in the whole extended forecast with the exception of one day it's supposed to be 31. I think the birches are going to start running real soon with this weather.

Evidently I had a decent run last night. Picked up around 200 gallons this morning. And maybe 50 gallons for all day today. Can't believe how slow the trees were trickling. I have an opposite theory I don't think my trees have warmed up yet. We need sun. Not gray windy 45 degree days.

I had the same experience over last 48hrs as you dill. Yes sandman I'm very pleased for the circumstances. I am concerned about the rest of the season though as I have only had a couple semi fruitfull days. I have more trees I could have tapped but I was picturing being flooded at this point with sap. Id like to get nailed good once this year before its done

I don't understand the difference. Your higher in elevation than most, have a lot more snow and and farther north. It's got to be a 'hot' spot for maple up there!! :)

Nothing to write home about around here today.

With 10,500 taps on vacuum I would think a real run would be 10 times that. Or being that close to canada they measure in liters.

750 taps yielded about 475 gallons yesterday boiling today sugar is 2.7

It was very disappointing here. Overnight we got about 125 gallons of sap and during the day until we pumped the tank at 3:30 we had only gotten another 75 gallons. The 100 buckets that hadn't been gathered in a week yielded another 60 gallons.

I'm thinking the same as you Dill. We need some sun to heat up and thaw out the trees. The snow has melted away from the bases of most of the trees so it isn't the snow pack that is killing us. How much the cold has settled in is evident when I still have chunks of ice in my furnace wood pile that haven't melted despite the mid 40's temps.

Maple maniac, I'm surprised to see you got more than 1/2 a gallon per tap. I was expecting something good yesterday and on my tiny 35 taps I got about 5 gallons of sap. The kids are happy, last year they were lugging full 5 gallon buckets around every time we collected now it's a breeze. Of course last year they could drive the golf carts to collect since there wasn't any snow on the ground.

I'm with Dill, my huge old maples haven't produced anything yet this season. The smaller quicker to thaw trees have been the only ones doing anything (and that's not saying much). This coming week looks promising, fingers crossed.

Some might want to kill me but I collected 50+ gallons after the rain was finished. Tested it at 1.5% max so I dumped it all. Hoping tomorrow and wedneday to rubberize my arms carrying full buckets. I've been getting near 3% without the rain

If you had an RO you would have kept that sap, squeezed the water out of it and boiled it. I've had seasons where 1.5% was sweet and on seasons like this one I am extra careful to not make any mistakes like leaving a tank valve open or spilling a gathering pail.

Yes we have no sap for you!
