I have a chance to pick up a set of 2 by 6 English tin pans. The back pan has drop flues. They are in good condition. Are the worth 400 and can you make good syrup on them. Thank you!

Do they come with any guarantee there's no lead in the solder? Also, are they new or aged, and if aged, can you check for leakage? Look up "tin pest" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tin_pest) in Wikipedia. Don't see why they wouldn't conduct heat well, so would work, but lead was typically used in tin solder so...

Cheers,

you can make good syrup on them. Just clean them good. Check for lead solder and bad leaks. Some leaks are fixable and can be sealed inbetween boils with Filter aid or corn meal.
