So it's supposed to be above freezing tonight in my area. I know this is bad for sap in the long run but if it's just one night will the sap run all night?

It seemed to run today, and it didn't freeze last night. It will run really well tomorrow because it's going to freeze tonight.

I have had some of my best runs at night before.

Sap can be unpredictable, but sap will often trickle out all night, especially if the run didn't start till late in the day.

So best weather of the year yesterday and half my trees shut off...some of my trees that had been running well shut off.

only if by "best" you mean warmest was it the best weather of the year.

yes, no freeze generally means little or no run, though vacuum helps keep 'em going a little longer. The good thing yesterday did was warm everything up. With a long slow freeze (its still 33* here with a trickle out of the vacuum line) the trees should be primed and ready for the week ahead. Lets hope!

We got nothing today for sap. I am planning on a Wednesday boil, but Mother Nature will have to give us some sap.
