Just wondering what you guys put on your pipe connections on your evaporator. My manual says to use food grade grease. I was hoping for something local.

Maybe I should have been more clear. Not the threaded connections but the pipes that have o rings in the center and a threaded ring to tighten

I just order it from McMaster carr when I needed it, a small tub of it has lasted me for years I use it for orings and the filter press. They ship the same day I always have the stuff by the next afternoon so its just as fast as trying to find it local.

Make sure if you buy a tube of it you keep it separated from your automotive tube grease. Your vehicle will smell like a French fry if you use it on your wheel bearings. Amazingly it works pretty good for a few hundred miles. I don't recommend this practice and not saying I ever did this :)

Would vaseline be ok to use?

For the wheel bearings or for food processing utensils?

flat land I don't get your response but assume you are saying no? You can use it on your mouth. I was just thinking it was heavier than cooking oil.

Sorry trying to be funny at same time. No I wouldn't use it it could transfer the taste to the sap and ruin everything. I would stick to food grade grease or other products recommended by the major manufacturers.
