I have been putting wire ties on my dads main line of 2008 taps for the last 5 days. I don't know how many wire ties I put on but I hope it will be a day or two before I have to do that again. Well I guess I will head out tomorrow and walk my lines. I have a 210 gallon poly gathering tank coming next week along with pre-filters and jugs. I have to set a tank by the house to catch about 60 taps. I don't see how I can keep up to 700 taps with my 2 1/2 x 8. :roll:

50gph=OH POOP!!!! 24 hours A day? = Glen getting some free sap or trade for new equipment, new to me any way. :D

No problem Brian, I did 800 taps on a wood fired rig the same size as yours for years. After getting an insulated arch front and a preheater that boosted it to 85 gph. What could I do? I put out 200 more taps of course. I ran 1000 taps on that rig for a few years and after a couple of 18 hour days I decided I had to reduce the ammount of taps I had so I went out and bought an RO machine. How can anybody reduce the ammount of taps they have :? Anyway, enough with the rant. You can do it no problem. Have fun.

Well Brian it's always good to get new toys. I wonder how much sap Glen would need to get for you to get your filter press? :lol: How about a RO? :wink:

from what you told me the other day Brian, you'll be giving him sap for a while to finish paying for that nice equipment ;)

Go for it, boil round the clock, isn't that what it's all about? the sweet smell of syrup in the shack, why would anyone want a short boiling day!!!!

You'll be so nervous the first time you boil that if someone sneaks up behind you, you would probably have a heart attack. :idea: :idea:

Since you like the short boiling days, you will have to save up and get an RO. You could pour off about 5 gph of syrup with a small RO and the evaporator you have now. :D I have seen some good deals on the smaller RO's out there.

Brian, the ties you used , were they the stainless ties? I used them on my lines and wow do they keep the mainline straight and without sags, sure you put alot on but so well worth it!!! I'll be using those for any project I do even around the house :)

Things are looking up. This means I might be able to pull it off. Last year I made a bigggggggg woops, I boiled on my anniversary and my wife told me I had better not do that this year. Well let me tell ya, this year I would rather give the sap to glen or dump it, with no looking back.. or maybe I will get up at day break and boil all morning then shut down until the next day. Now let me tell ya if you sugar, DON"T GET MARRIED IN SUGARING TIME!! OH SAY MARCH:roll:

The wire ties I use are what Glen sells and uses, I don't think they are stainless. The oil truck is ccoming 2/27/04 to fill my 275 gallon tank so that will be ready to go.

I hope I can keep up, it looks alittle hard on paper. Some are on S slope and some are on N slope so hope fully they will run alittle diffrent from each other to give me a little edge.

Hey Brian-
I got some stuff from a fellow that has a millipore R.O. for $400, he says he can get the membranes it needs for $250 a peice, aftermarket.....but it needes 3 phase power, I guess it came out of a hospital...........Interested? OR If you could find some dry wood I have a nice 4X12 with preheater I will not need till next season...

Thank you for the offer to use your evaporator, I appreciate it greatly, but I think I will see how everything works out for this year. The R.O sounds good but I don't have 3phase power here. Thank you again for the offer to use your evaporator! I think next year I will get a filter press and look into an R.O to make life a little easier. :lol:
