Any of the more experienced members have a guess as to how much longer we have for syrup production in CT?

I'm just going to take it as it comes but I do have some concern about the lack of support from some deep cold after this week. I've only boiled a few times in April with mixed results. If the trees produce, I'll be boiling. It was 8° this morning at my house so I think that will by some time but I do know the ground is thawing out without much (if any) snow cover.
To answer your question, it depends on the weather but I think maybe a week or two? If the trees hold after this week, who knows, we might be boiling till mid-April!

This week looks like it may be the last.

I think about 2 weeks from the forecast yet a couple deg either way could end it or extend it. Had a low of 11 deg here this morning so that helps keep the buds in check for a while even with all my red maples, once they do open tho I still plan to make all the syrup I can, last year I sold over 2k bucks of commercial syrup so for me its worth it. The way I view it is the taps are already in the tree doesn't hurt to wait a little longer to pull them and make some money in the meantime

I have never made syrup in April but I am optimistic this year. Started the year wanting to make 12-13 gallons and may be there by Monday but I have already had moths in all the bags and the reds are showing signs of budding in the open areas. I will boil everything off as of this weekend and wash out the pan so anything beyond that will be a bonus and if it starts to turn I won't ruin any of the quality stuff. Let's hope it stays a little colder than the forecast.

I agree! A bunch of 32 and 34 deg nights in the weeks ahead that i hope are just a couple deg colder!

Collected 6 gallons from 8 taps, since last week. All trees are red maples. There was a slight cloudiness, so I'm pulling the taps and boiling the last collection as a separate batch. Looking in the tops of the trees it seems the buds have broken (red maples). This is eastern New London county.
Short and sweet (pun intended) season for me. The land I have access to has no sugar maples so to get more production I will have to tap more trees.

Boiling on Saturday, pulling the taps on Sunday! Short season but fast and furious last ~3 weeks

Littlesap - checked out the pics of your setup nice job - this season must have been enjoyable being in a new setup. Checked my taps this afternoon and all were dripping but the bags were frozen solid from last night. Hoping for a two day run to get to our 12 gallon goal and then play it day to day. Everyone stay dry this weekend:lol:

Yeah Mark, sap is still flowing but buds popped on most of my reds so I'm done. First time I finished boiling and pulled all my taps on the same weekend. Just finished, only made about 10 gallons on ~75 taps but I was frozen solid until the first week of March. Took last year off so I'm happy to have gotten back in the groove.
