Quick question for you electricians out there. I have two 1/5th HP blowers for AUF. One looks to be much older than the other. And on close inspection, one is 3.7 Amps. and the other says 6.5 Amps. Since they are right next to each other, and both are for AUF, I wanted to wire them in sequence and run off the same Variable Speed Control. I can separate them, and did pick up an extra VSC, but would rather run them in sequence.
The question is since they are difference Amps. will they effect each other if they are on the same circuit.
Thanks for your input.

Ben, it won't work to run them in series for 2 reasons. First, by going in series, each motor will see 55 volts, not 110. If they were the exact same draw, you might be able to feed them 220, which would make 110 to each. However, even this won't work if the current draw of each motor is different.
Use a separate control for each, you will be fine.

I am not an electrician, but I would think if you ran them in series it would be just like a 2-socket wall outlet. Each will draw what they need off the 110v supply. The VSC is the interesting wrinkle and an electrician would probably need to know the type of motor and controller you have to answer this.
One thought is to hook the small fan up directly to the 110v supply (alway runs full speed) and then just control the larger one.

You can't run them in series as already noted. you could probably tie both of them together and control them in that fashion. All hots spliced together and all three neutrals spliced to each other. This will only work if they are the same voltage. And being the fact that they are different sizes you will have to figure out just how one of the motors will go before it no longer works and keep just above this for them both.
