are my R.O. calculations wrong?

So i ve been trying to read up on ro for my longterm business plan. If going from 2% to 8% is that an actual factor of four? Hers my math. Evap has a capacity of 100gph, over 10 hrs comes to 1000 gallons per day, or about 1000 taps, $10/ tap profit times 1000 equals $10000. Now factor in an R.o. @ 8percent. The same 1000 gallons gets reduced to 250 concentrate and 2.5 hours on the evap. Oror increase taps to 4000, then concentrate 4000 gallons down to 1000 gallons then evap for 10 hours. Those 4000 taps at same profit levels total $40000. That doesnt seem right. One would easily spend $20,000 for an r.o that would quadruple capacity. So is my math wrong?

Your math makes sense but you can also concentrate higher than 8% and cut your boiling times even more.

So it seems like an R.O. is a no brainer for anyone actually trying to make an income off maple syrup. Curiously when researching and shopping R.O. machines what numbers and specs should i pay attention to and what they mean.

An RO is a great business plan. My wife has called ours the best purchase we ever made, I wish she'd say it was our second best, with our marriage license #1!

You have to factor in the maintenance cost of the RO, as well as the added costs of setting and maintaining the additional taps/lines/etc. It won't be a 1 to 1 profit increase.
