How much is hydraulic oil going for? I just bought a couple of gallons of vac oil at tractor supply for 12 and change. The oil is non foaming and is good for all rotory and piston pumps. I used this in a surge Alamo for several years.

NOt recommended.
Friend just told me last night he is getting higher vac on the TSC blue than on hydraulic oil.
Hydaulic is designed to with stand supper high heat so it will not evap off to cool the pump. Hot pumps die fast.
Hi oil also will trap the water and this will rust the pump and eat the bearings with cold am startups.
Buying of a jug of quality vac oil is like buying a present for the wife. It may seem like a waste, but the pay back is worth every penny spent!

Vacuum oil is special stuff, you don't want it vaporizing under a vacuum. I bought mine on Ebay for pretty cheap.
