Have you guys in the Buckeye State noticed higher sugar content this year....I was just wondering? Mine has consistently been 3% or higher when it finally runs. I didn't have a refractometer last year, but did calculate the average based on syrup production and it was about 2.5% for the year. In mid February this year it was around 2.5%, but these last two runs have been high.

This is my first year with the ability to measure sugar content in sap.
My trees are all over the place. I have 3 lines collecting into tanks. The first one is roadside sugar maples and it has run between 2 and 3. The next one is 5 sugar maples with 2 reds, It has consistently run a 1 %.
Another line is all reds it has run at 1%
I have reds and sugars on buckets. The sugars run 2% or above, and the reds on buckets also run 2% or so.
The majority of my sap ends up being 1% so far this year. :-(
I start boiling the sweet stuff and if I do not have time for the low sugar sap, I dump it.
Need a bigger pan or an RO or something to make that worthwhile.
