Sap Ladder

I was wondering what the highest pick can be on a sap ladder?I run 20" of vac and am going to be tapping app 200 road trees and i need to bring it over the road,no sloosh pipe to go under.The law is 14'.Can it be done?

You probably could get away with it by doing 2 sap ladders 7' each. I doubt a 14' ladder would work too good. :?

IF, you have 20" of vacuum at the point of the sap ladder, you can lift it 14'. But, 20" at the pump and 15" at the point of lift will be marginal at best. I've built a 14' sap ladder that worked really good at 18" of vac. I would shy away from putting 2 lifts in line as you lose 1-2"vac. for each lift. I know that $$ are always an issue and ladders are the cheapest way to go, but, the new sap lifts that Bernard and Lapierre are making are impressive. Leader advertises that you can lift 20', Lapierre claims similar results. Depending who you buy from, they range from $400-$600.

mplwrks- have you seen the sap lifters leader and lapieer have? I have seen the pictures in catalogs but have not seen them in person,,,,,they look like they are just a chamber with some black plastic pipe on them ? is there much to them? I am curious cause the is about 250 BIG trees is a cow pasture just up the road from me that I could tap but they are below the road about 100 feet

I've only seen these work in demos. There really is nothing to them. They seem to work well, a little pricey, but, if you pick up another 250 taps then it won't take too long to pay for it!

How big should the tube be that holds the stars?Also do i need to put vac to my lines coming to the ladder?And how many 5/16 lines should i run for app 100 taps?

I would run a short piece of 3/4" mainline, (maybe 20' or so) and put my 6 way stars on that. I always run 12 lines in a ladder, 6 for sap, 6 for vac.
