Is it possible to have too much stovepipe for an arch? Cause I have close to 16' of pipe and only a 2x4.5 arch. Yes the barel has been built!

Yes you can have too much stack. It depends on the diameter also. Too long of a stack and the flames will be pulled right past the pan and out the top.

Sounds like you have about 8 ft of spare pipe for your next arch, lol.

I would max it at 9 ft at best.

Good luck

Put a damper in it.

I never see any stacks with a vent cap on them to keep out the weather....does a vent cap obstruct the draft?

I like the rain cap that flips up. Yes a typical rain cap (hat type) might restrict the draft, therefore reducing the boiling rate.
