Well, Dad and I sanitized our 235 buckets today, as well as our gathering pails and barrels and pans. Still work to do on the arch- air over fire, and insulating. The time has gone by this year!! We will wait till after this storm to tap, in case it rains. Boiling is fun, but boiling rain water is not! We still have some of our syrup from last year, so making less this year is not a bad thing. May not put out the plastic buckets. There were lots of under performing trees last year, gonna concentrate on the better ones, and maybe get some different trees to tap. In 2012, we were done on March 13....

Well, we have made a decision. With all the rest of life catching up with us, work and such is picking up, and the lousy season thus far, we think it is best to skip this year. We have syrup left from last year, so we won't starve. It was a painful decision, but a relief once it was made. The wood will dry out more, and we can hit next year with a vengeance! Hope your year improves!
