Currently have 2 ( gonna be 4 next yr) remote bushes. I am running 2 gas powered setups right now. The whole starting and gas thing is a serious pain. Having to be at work @6 am, its pretty tough to get them going and be on time.
Power is fairly close and is possible, although the cost I am not sure of yet.
Are there any other readable options that don't need to be manually started yet are good on fuel?
Thinking out loud : auto start generator running elect pump?

Diesel engine from a refer unit since it has temperature controls and auto start

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Is it possible to run a vacuum line from your sugar house to the remote spot or are we talking a drive down the road to get to it?

Russ- they are between a 10 & 20 minute drive. I have nothing that runs to the sugar house. I think in my next life that will be a prioriy!!

I am sure electricity would be the best choice but at what cost vs other options?

Perry if you are going to auto start the generator why not auto start the vacuum pump instead?

Auto start vacuum will kill two birds with one stone.

Water trap that is connected thru the auto start will allow for auto dumping of the trap and restart after it has emptied. This is very simple and I am building one now for a friend. Depending on the extent of wha you want to pay for parts it can be built so that the tubing system will not be totally drawn down by the dumping of the water trap.

There are even ways to check on the status of the pumps control board thru your cell phone.

I am looking at having to expand to several remote bushes also and have to be able to know the moment there is a problem.

I will be including auto start/off on temp, low oil shut off, auto water trap cycling, remote monitoring of the system.

I like the diesel angle but hard to find inexpensive units that are not one foot out of the scrape yard.

Gasoline is pretty expensive. You will probably find that electricity will be more reliable and less expensive.

Any key start motor can be setup to be an auto start as long as it has an automatic choke. If the choke is manual it will not start automatically. A temp control unit will cost around $50 on ebay.

It is not that hard to do you just need to know what your motor is.

Then you can use acontactor and a float switch in your water trap to shut of the pump when water gets to switch. Then restart pump after a few seconds of the switch resetting from the water dumping.
