I have been toying with the idea of building a sugarhouse. How does one use a sugarhouse in the off-season? Do you use it for storage? Thank you.

Good Question - Mine was 8x12 and now 12x14 and crowded. It was built for a Sugar Shack and I used it like a garden shed in the off season. So then - as many Hobbies go - it started to get out of control. It is packed with everything for my little maple syrup Hobby and we put up a pole barn for the other stuff and overflow maple syrup things. Hey - Sell the Mrs. on storing yard stuff idea - till You get the Sugar Shack up. ---- Then the Pole Barn idea comes later. One thing for sure - You will fill it up and be looking for more space.

It stores my maple stuff year round of course, not gona empty it out after each season! Also gets used for bottling syrup of course every few weeks the rest of the year. And have been known to have a few beers with friends around the woodstove in the off season, and in the summer the ro room is the changing room before guests get into the wood fired hot tub.

We use our 12x16 as a garden shed, tool storage, etc in the off season. Mine also has a loft and I use that for storage of all my treestands and hunting gear. In the fall I use the loft to store and change into my hunting clothes before heading out.

Ours was designed for syrup. Its 26 x 32. Then we started bee keeping so there is that equipment stored most of the year too. The kitchen area is used for syrup and honey throughout the year. I do need another building as some of our lawn equipment gets stored around the evaporator in the winter.
Good luck with your new sugarhouse.

Chris
