So whenever anyone thinks about Maple usually Vermont is the first state that comes to mind. However if you look around on here, and around the net in general it seems New Hampshire is #1 when it comes to people who do sugaring as a hobby. I'm from NH and in my area anyway there is a lot of sugaring. Anyone else concur/disagree?

There are tons of people in Vermont who small time sugar but don't use the internet a ton.
Every small hardware store here sells some kind of "tap your own trees stuff"
NH may very well have more, but I would be surprised if it had more per capita

I think the poll is tilted ...not all producing states are able to vote. it was started in n.h. so it is clear Ittiz called all his friends and told them to vote. I am happy to see n.y. coming in very strong though . relax Ittiz I am only kidding . My brother lived in N.H. for years around Rollinsford. It is a beautiful state . But then so are all of the Maple producing states. It is because of the 4 seasons, recreation on all the lakes and streams we have. etc.

How come Wisconsin's not on the poll? We're in the top 5 maple producing states. I hesitate to say this because it may sound rude, but I feel that this poll is typical of the East coast attitude regarding our so-called "fly-over" states.

We have a lot of small operations in NH but one thing I have noticed is that more and more small and medium operations are going up at a fast rate. Two big sugarhouses with 1700+ taps were built within a 10 mile radius locally in 2 years, and I see lots of small timers everywhere I drive. I know of 20+ operations ranging from 10to2000 taps (mostly under 100) within a 15 minute drive from my house
Ohio Michigan Pennsylvania and Wisconsin!

Where's Wisconsin? Is it one of those rectangle states in the middle? ;)

Seems a lot like asking who the best team in College Basketball is right now: Duke, Virginia, Syracuse, Clemson, NC State, Virginia Tech or the Miami Heat. ...and not listing Florida, Wichita State, Arizona and others because they are not in the ACC, but including Miami because everyone knows they could beat all of the options given.
Four of the top producing maple states aren't even listed, yet we've included Quebec.
I am more and more surprised how many people I have met (or already knew but was unaware they "sugared") in my area of Ohio.

Didn't mean to leave anyone out! :P just didn't want a gigantic poll, I can't add more now. Maybe one of the admins could add them...

You won't know until you ask them. If they can't add to it, maybe they can delete the poll so you can repost a revised one. But either way, you're going to have to contact them. It's either that or those of us in excluded areas are coming to syrup and feather you
PS Don't forget Ontario!
