Alright, I was at my dealer last week, starring at spouts. I was planning on half CV2 and half straight seasonal. Was talked into all Elbow style seasonal. Felt alright about the decision. Then I see this mess with the CV2's and it got me looking at my spouts to see if they were made by leader and to see if they had any issues. Mine are made by CDL. What I found is that about half of the spouts have an odd bubble in the elbow that I can stick a toothpick into. It looks like a little bacteria holder to me.

What is going on with these manufactures. Don't they get it that if they can't produce, we will go else where. Not that we have a choice for now, but hopefully a little more competition will make them build better, more reliable products.

Does anyone else use these, and do they see the same bubble I am talking about? It doesn't look like they will leak, but I don't like the bacteria holder. Fortunately for me I am starting tapping Wednesday, so mine are still in a box. I now I wish I stuck with the straight ones. Less money and it's such a simple mold it is hard to screw up. Mine are going back Monday and it is straight seasonal from now on. At least for this year. I would guess these manufactures got a little wake up call this year.

Are you talking about the CDL "smart spout" also know as the Y? Or is this a 90 degree "Maxflow" clear seasonal. I have been using the smart spout for several years now and really like them. Have not noticed what you are talking about.

It's the one with the 90. The air bubble connects to the inside of the tap as I can stick a toothpick in it from the inside. It sounds like the same as what happened to the CV, just that in these, the bubble didn't reach the outside. Still not liking it. I like the looks of the ones you use, the Y shaped ones. It will be either those or the straight ones for me until the bugs are worked out of the others.

I would definitely recommend the Y spout. They seat really well in the taphole and I have never had an issue with leaks on high vac. I'm personally not sold on the Leader spouts, seems like they need to work out some issues. I also don't use drops older than 2 seasons so to each their own.
