I have to admit due to being unorganized last year this is all my fault.

Getting ready for this season, I looked in my tapping bit box,,,,EMPTY.
I know I have the bit here somewhere, I am assuming in a container on my bench that has many assorted bits in it. When I have a drill bit with no home into the container it goes.

As I am going through the bits, What am I looking for to help me know it is my taping bit? I remember it did look different but cant totally remember why.

If anyone knows what to tell me to look for , it is appreciated.

Thanks.

Terry

The better bits have a concave flute area. Metal bits will have a smooth sided flute for added strength.

Good Luck!

When you find it put a dab of nail polish on the shaft to mark it.

Here is a pic of one. Uncoated, fast flutes. It should look just like this. 8930

You'll be best off if you leave the old tapping bit with the others and buy a new bit each year. If you don't want to do that, boil the bit for several minutes to help kill any micro organisms on it.

Should be more pointed than that, like 90 degrees.

Just buy a new one they cut best! I used to reuse them year to year but found around a thousand holes they lose the nice clean cut
