This year will be my first year trying to run a line out to my new shack. I have 250 feet of 5/16 line as a "main line" with 5/16 lines teed into it with my taps. Guess my question is, is that too many taps for a 5/16 line and will it slow my sap production. I've read the threads that say to keep the line closed at the top, so the start of my line is directly into the first tree with 2 taps. Most of my "lateral lines" are short but I have a couple that are about 15 feet long. Does anyone see any issues with my setup ? Also they are mostly silver or red maples.

We've had as many as 50 taps on 5/16 , natural vacuum, and it worked fine . In a good run it gave us a good 30+ gallons in 24 hours.

Should be fine, just keep it pitched down hill and tight.

I have about a 3% pitch on the line. That was the most I could get and still reach the tap without a ladder.

I have several for which I'm going to need a ladder because the 5/16 mainline is at the upper limit of my reach

I have tapped from a latter as I am sure most have. Whatever it takes, right?

Hopefully I don't end up needing a ladder. But if need be I don't have a problem lugging one through the woods.

i have a couple of 5/16 lines set up with over 50 taps on each. i do have a lot of pitch so that may help in my situation. 50 foot drop over 350 feet. some laterals are 30 feet long. it is a simple setup with one size line and only 3 different types of fittings. i cant take credit for the setup as another member here showed me the basics. most efficient? i dont know but it flows real well, and works for me. when its running, just check all lines and be sure they flow with eachother at the junctions.. happy tapping!
