I have a group of trees that I want to run lines on and they are not on a hill. Can I start the higher on the first tree and work my way down? I am new to this line thing so any info will help. Thank you

Sure. As long as you have a % of fall between first tree tapped and your collection point.

What i would recommend is to keep it high with very little slope throughout, keep it very tight, moderate tension is your best friend, and at the end have an increased slope so that it helps to pull some sap down the line. this works well with 5/16 gravity runs. leave enough room for snowmelt and movement near your collection point, but remember that the tubing will stretch so you will have to retension it.
