Hottest area of arch

Where is the hottest part of the arch? Over the firebox or the ramp? I just got my 2-4 pan and need to plumb to my 2-2. Test boil. Both are flat pans,2-4 is divided and the 2-2 is one area. I plan to use the 2-2 for a preheater and the 2-4 divided for the syrup pan. I have no float box or auto draw, just planning to run this manually.

The rear of the firebox is the hottest part. Once the "heat" gets to the ramp, the pan should be extracting that heat, so the temperature drops as it travels towards the stack.
