A friend surprised me with a homemeade hood made from galvonized metal. I haven't installed it yet. My concern is with any steam that may condense on the hood and drip back into the pan. Thinking of the chemicals in the galvonized material as well as what was used to solder the sheets, thought I think most of it has bolts of some kind.
