Dave got a big order for gift boxes, so I gave him a hand for a couple days... he had 300 of these to do, pretty much kept 5 people busy for 3 days just putting them together. They contain 500 ml (1 pint) syrup, 250g (227g is 1/2 lb) maple butter, 300g maple cream, 375 ml maple BBQ sauce, and a bag of maple cashews.

300 is a big pile, there are 75 in the 5 stacks, so 4 times that:

What does a box like that retail for?

I'm not sure... these ones aren't for retail, they are for corporate gift boxes, so he wholesales them... I would guess somewhere around $30-$35, but I don't really know.

Edit: I mean $30-35 wholesale, would probably retail $40-45 ish.

That is a nice box. and if the price is around what you quoted it is a great value added item.

Yes, the boxes were really nice... cedar, so smell good too. He got them for about $4 apiece, which I think is a good bargain. He has made some boxes himself in the past, but lots of work for a big order if you're schedule is already full. If you have tools and time, they aren't hard to make.

Just the value of the product in them is probably close to $30 at retail, so I don't think he really makes all that much above that, but you get to move a fair bit at once instead of one bottle of syrup at a time. This one order is 1500 single items, and probably over 100 gal of syrup. Even if you sell one box at a time at retail, you sold a customer 5 items instead of the one they were going to buy.

Thats a lot of product, and very nice packaging too. Thanks for the excellent pictures. I can see why 5 people would be busy a couple of days.
