tube question of distance in the barrel

I run gravity 5/16 laterals to 1/2 main Dose it make a difference on how much tube i leave down i the barrel. does just a few inches in give better flow then one on the bottom that the will have the pressure of the sap pushing back up as the barrel fills . any thoughts would be great. May all you sap be 10% abd you fire hot

I dont think there is any advantage of running your tubing deep into the barrel. I would simply make sure is is secure (it wont come out if a stick falls across it), extend it only a few inches into the barrel and call it good.
