I came across this recipe the other day for candied maple bacon cocktail snacks

There is an all maple syrup version if you read thru the comments- it omits the brown sugar and increases the syrup to 1/3 cup. Or you could replace maple sugar for brown sugar in the original recipe if you want an all maple version.

Also found a recipe for maple bourbon syrup that could make an awesome sauce for an applesauce raisin cake or a simple bread pudding.. That was 2 parts heated maple syrup to 1 part bourbon and a pat or two of butter. Don't plan on driving:)

While this may not be exactly what you were looking for as far as a "recipe" goes, I'm definitely going to be all over this idea! I always have vanilla beans in the pantry and some of them are definitely going to find themselves inside a bottle of syrup. :) If you keep one of these great gift ideas for yourself, remember that the vanilla bean will impart flavour for a long time, so you just need to keep topping up the syrup in the bottle once you've opened it.
