Well now that I got thru Valentines Day I can start thinking maple will probably tap next week.

I'm hoping that our mainlines will be complete on Sunday with several laterals re-configured and some of those hooked to the mainline. Looks like next Thursday will be a good day to be ready for my area.

I got the camp plowed out today will probably set up evaporator Tues Day afternoon and tap my lines wed . Buckets I will tap first of March looks like we will get run this week. Can't wait to see what this 3/16 line does

Did you attend Maple School and get inspired to try the 3/16? I attended that seminar during the 2013 Maple School in Hyde Park and found it very interesting. Tell me, how many taps are connected to your 3/16 tubing? Also, do you have a long run leading to your collection tank in order to acheive the high vacuum that was discussed? I am considering trying this at one of my locations. Thanks.

I learned about it on here last summer and read the report and went for it. I did go to seminar at Maple school this January and it confirmed that I was right to do this, I have runs with as few as 4 and the most I have on a run might be 15. They run to a 3/4 main line.

I ran 3/16 this year. I am small time and on my second year. I think I have 25 taps or so total. So I am far from an expert.

I can say that the 3/16 lines do seem to outproduce the bags and the 3/8 drops.

I have 2 3/16 runs of 7 trees. One all red, the other 4 red and 3 sugar. Once they get going you can see the sap push the bubbles down the line.

I did not get a chance to hook my vacuum gauge, I figured my time was better spent tapping and running lines then getting to detailed about the amount of vacuum.

I did find the vacuum "felt" impressive when I added some taps to the top of the run. Nice suction.
