Reworked flat syrup pan to a continuous flow. My draw off valve is about 9" from pan. Should I replum it up tight to pan? I'm thinking it will hold cold or half done syrup and throw my readings off on hydrometer. Or will it all mix with the boiling action?

What is that pipe going through before your valve?

That's the 9" pipe that drains from the syrup pan. Pan is set down in the block arch about 2"

My first set up was a flat pan on a block arch and I had the same 9" to 10" leg. I had my valve nippled up fairly close to the pan. Regardless, the syrup that is in there would be basically the same as what you last drew off even if it is cold.
I did find that the blocks were warm enough to keep the pipe hot.
I think it fine either way.

I wouldn't go through the extra effort. The first sample can be to warm up your cup, then you can take another reading with fresh syrup. I always take a couple of readings anyway.
